Blog Action Day??

Um not so much.....forgive me, I've been dancing with Mr. Migraine for the pass few days therefore I've nothing prepared for today.............sigh

I had planned on doing a nifty pictorial (even though I take crummy pix) on the construction of a windmill. We have a windfarm 7 miles north with approximately 65 windmills and currently they are erecting another windfarm about 2 miles south of us. That farm will have a total of 100 windmills when it is complete and operating this December. I'll still do the pictorial, just not today. It is amazing how quickly they go up.

To satisfy any "requirements" for today why don't you just take a stroll through my archives. The tags of most interest to anyone visiting because today is Blog Action Day are rather obvious, Recycle, Refashion, Thrifting. I'll warn you now that most are related to fiber, aka knitting, sewing, dyeing, etc. There are posts about the day I used solar energy to dye some wool, posts about remaking a single garment into several other items (see the Leather Coat tags) a post how I turned some 3 ring binders into storage boxes and few others. Yeah I know some links would be good here, sorry....I feel lousey, deal with it.

Whoa, I'm bit grouchy too it seems. :-/

I feel sorta silly and like a fraud sitting here and listing the things that I do for the earth as I've seen other blogs do. Fraudulent cuz I was raised this way and I really don't think the welfare of the earth ever entered my parents thoughts. It was more of need based reality with a good strong dose of German practicality. Practicality being the overriding attitude. We were comfortable, some would say affluent, but we kids never had a lot of things. Mom drove a Cadillac, Dad drove a Vega. Mom had a cleaning lady, Dad built the house. It was an "interesting" dichotomy to say the least. Obviously it also must be the reason that some members of my family seem to have such different value systems than I. Nonetheless, it is the reason I am the I way I am. I'm practical and if I can do a little bit more to help I try to.

I considered writing an essay this morning, but perhaps it might be best if I don't climb up on my soapbox today and expound the evils of overconsumption and the soul sucking act of attaching status, self worth, and happiness, on Things. It could get ugly. Grouchy, remember....you have no idea how many times I've used the delete button already. So I guess I'll just leave you all with one thought......

You can buy as many cars, houses, clothes, and things as your little heart desires, but keep in mind, in the end, the only things that truly matter are the ones that can't be bought and can't be replaced........people, soil, air, and water....why spend your money on things that don't matter?
